Shola Ameobi Still Hanging Around Unwanted At Newcastle

It’s a shame when players are still rotting away on the bench unwanted like some sort of discarded Christmas toy. Shola Ameobi has been in this situation for around two years now at Newcastle. Relegated behind strikers such as Michael Own, Mark Viduka and even Alan Smith [!] he only gets a game when the above are injured or suspended.

When he does get a game, you can guarantee that Shola won’t step up his game and help his own cause. For a player who had so much promise attached to him, he sadly marked himself as more of a Championship player then a Premiership player.

So when offered the chance to move to another club, it has been annoying to see the player digs his heels in and wait for a Premiership club to snap him up. Many have been linked with him, including West Brom and Stoke. Now for whatever reason, he hasn’t liked these offers dangled in front of him. There are plenty of days left in the transfer window, but for things to go smoothly, they need to be sorted as soon as possible.

The latest club to be linked with Ameobi is Ipswich who could benefit greatly with an ex Premiership striker in their ranks. Sadly however the deal seems to have gone wrong again with reports saying that the player has failed a medical, rumoured to be on a hamstring injury.

If this remains to be seen is another thing, but hopefully this is just media speculation and he can hopefully move to a club who will offer him first team permanent football.
